DigiKam
We are using DigiKam to manage our photos at http://Elements-by-Caroline-Photography.com, and it's working great. We are using DigiKam version 0.9.1, and it handles 7,500+ photos with no problem. For individual editing, we don't use the built-in editor, but use the right-click-->open with-->gimp menu instead.
It's worked well for us so far.
